There are several different types of bees. Very few bees in the UK are dangerous, although some can create a nuisance if they nest near doorways or windows. While bees aren’t protected, they are endangered. Bees are a critical part of the local ecosystem and so should not be moved or eradicated unless it is completely essential.
The most prevalent species of bee in the United Kingdom are honey bees, bumblebees and tree bumblebees. There are many sub species of these. All of the kinds can sting, although will only sting as a last resort. The various species like to nest in various areas. For example, tree bumblebees frequently nest in bird boxes or other enclosed areas in trees.
If you have a swarm or nest of bees that you need to get moved, it’s best to contact a beekeeper who’ll be able to come and safely gather the bees. They could take them off to their own site, or be able to move the nest to a local area that is less disruptive. The British Beekeepers Association are a charity that establish standards for certified beekeepers.

Catterick Garrison is a major garrison and town located three miles south of Richmond in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. The town lies within the Central Richmondshire electoral division of North Yorkshire County Council and divided among the Hipswell and Scotton wards of Richmondshire District Council. The town is divided amongst two civil parishes. The southern part of the town, south of a little stream generally known as Leadmill Gill, is within the civil parish of Scotton. The northern part forms the greater part of the civil parish of Hipswell. Every parish has its personal parish council. It is the largest British Army garrison in the world, with a population of about 13000 and measuring over 2400 acres. The original intention for Catterick was to be a temporary camp to accommodate two complete divisions with about 40000 men in 2000 huts. However, under plans announced by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in November 2005, the population of Catterick Garrison is anticipated to grow to more than 25000 by 2020, making it the biggest population centre in the local area. Lacking a real town centre, the Garrison gained its initial large supermarket in 2000, as well as a retail park called ‘Richmondshire Walk’, which also includes a McDonalds, a Poundstretcher and a Peacocks, amongst other shops. ‘Catterick Leisure Centre’ is a purpose built centre opposite the retail park, opened in July 2009, and it offers a broad spectrum of leisure and fitness facilities like a swimming pool, along with a gym, along with an adjoining public library.
