Weeds are fast growing plants which will grow naturally in many areas and can spread very rapidly if left unchecked. Weeds will affect gardens and can easily change a well-tended garden into a mess. There are various species of weeds in the UK and while many are beneficial in small numbers, many others can quickly become problematic. Varieties like Japanese knotweed and brambles can very quickly overwhelm the plant life already in a garden. It is important to keep any weeds in your garden in order as in severe circumstances they could cause structural problems to the building if they’re allowed to grow unchecked near the house.

Some varieties of weeds such as Japanese knotweed have legal requirements on them as they are non-native invasive species. It is not illegal to have Japanese knotweed in your garden but you are obliged by law to keep it in order and prevent it from spreading. If you have Japanese knotweed on your property and the local authority deems it to drastically affect the character of the local area then they can force you to manage it.

Experienced weed control companies can accurately identify the types of weed which is causing a problem in your garden. They can then perform an effective treatment plan which may involve using chemical or organic herbicides along with installing preventative measures such as weed control fabric or mulch. The simplest way to keep weeds under control is to keep a well-maintained garden and to remove any weeds as quickly as you can.

Alfreton is a town and civil parish in Amber Valley within the county of Derbyshire, linking the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire districts. It was a Norman Manor before it became an Urban District, and contains a compact population of roughly 7971, as reported by the 2011 census. Traditionally, the villages of Ironville, Riddings, Somercotes and Swanwick together form a section of the Manor along with the Urban District, having a population of 24476 in the 2001 census. The presence of conveniently out there and rich seams of coal and ironstone within the area led for the growth in significance of mining and iron-working at the end on the medieval period, radically altering the regular agricultural economy. Significant numbers of small workings and pits were constructed, and Alfreton became the chief coal-mining centre in Derbyshire by the 18th century. The improvement of those industries contributed considerably towards the town’s prosperity and attracted substantial numbers of workers, creating Alfreton the third largest town inside the country by the end of the 18th century. Population development led to the development of brick-making and tile-making industries in the town, and also boot-making, repairing and leather resulting from the need for industrial footwear. Due to the decline of the business in the middle of the 20th century, the pits closed in the 1960s and their sites are now utilised for other kinds of development. Alfreton is a vibrant urban centre with a mixture of chain stores and a number of independent enterprises, which includes pubs, food outlets as well as a leisure centre.
