Fumigation is a technique used to deal with severe pest infestations. It is often disruptive to homes and businesses so is often only used as a last resort where an infestation is very persistent and other ways of control have been unsuccesful. Fumigation is effective at controlling many different pests, it is usually used for fleas, cockroaches and other crawling or flying insects.

There is an array of chemicals available for fumigation, and a range of methods used for spraying. In recent years, some fumigation chemicals have been banned because of the high risk of causing pollution to the atmosphere. The type of chemical type and method used will rely upon the species of pest and the scale of the infestation, along with the access restrictions to the fumigated area.

There are DIY fumigation options available such as insecticide ‘bombs’. These can be effective for small infestations, but for large or prolonged pest infestations an expert pest control company will be best placed to survey the situation and accomplish the fumigation. Fumigation can be dangerous as it involves releasing huge amounts of toxic gas into a contained area and so should only be carried out by trained professionals.

Barton-upon-Humber or Barton is a town and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. In accordance with the 2011 Census, the town features a permanent population of about 11066 inhabitants. It is positioned on the south bank of the Humber Estuary at the southern end of the Humber Bridge. It’s 46 miles (74 km) east of Leeds, six miles (10 km) south-west of Hull and 31 miles (50 km) north-east of the county town of Lincoln. Other neighbouring towns include Scunthorpe towards the south-west and Grimsby to the south-east. The Barton Cleethorpes Branch Line through Grimsby terminates at Barton-on-Humber railway station. The A15 passes to the west of the town cutting through Beacon Hill, and has a junction with the A1077 Ferriby Road to South Ferriby. The B1218 passes north-south via the town, and leads to Barton Waterside. An Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery at Castledyke South, used in the late fifth or early 6th century until the late seventh century, was investigated and partially excavated in 1975. The skeletal remains of 227 people were found, including one person who had undergone, and survived, trepanning. The church was reopened in May 2007 as a resource for medical analysis into the development of illnesses, and ossuary, containing the bones and skeletons of some 2750 individuals whose remains had been removed between 1978 and 1984 from the 1000-year-old burial site, after the Church of England declared the church redundant in 1972. The significance of the human remains lies in their representing the pathology of an isolated group over the period of time around 950 and 1850. An excavation report on one of England’s most extensively investigated parish churches, including a volume on the human remains, was published in 2007.
