Hornets are not a frequent pest in the UK. However, they can cause problems in some locations, and their substantial size and strong sting makes them dangerous to humans, especially if they are present in large numbers.

Hornets can be tricky to distinguish from wasps. The most clear marker is the fact that hornets are social and live in large nests while wasps tend to be solitary. All of these methods will leave some residual effect meaning any hornets which were not present at the time of the first application will be wiped out when they come back to the nest. Pest control companies will also be able to take away the nest, which will stop hornets attempting to recolonise it.
