Hornets are not a common pest in the UK. However, they can cause problems in a few locations, and their substantial size and potent sting makes them hazardous to humans, particularly if they can be found in large numbers.

Hornets can be tough to distinguish from wasps. The most obvious sign is the fact that hornets are social and live in large nests while wasps tend to be solitary. All of these methods will leave some residual effect meaning any hornets which were not present at the time of the first application will be eradicated when they return to the nest. Pest control companies will also be able to eliminate the nest, which will stop hornets trying to recolonise it.
