Cockroaches are a very problematic pest. They spread diseases such as salmonella, and create significant health risks. They might contaminate food and water sources and so it is critical to take care of a cockroach infestation as quickly as possible. Cockroaches also breed quickly, and they are likely to lay eggs in inaccessible locations.

If you detect one cockroach within your home, it’s likely that there are more. The first step to cockroach treatment is to ensure that you get rid of as many hiding places as possible. Cleaning as many accessible areas as you can will reduce the number of places that cockroaches are able to hide in. Cockroaches prefer to hide inside cupboards and behind appliances. They may also hide inside drains or pipes if these have cracks through which they can gain access. Checking as many areas as possible is critical as a treatment which does not get rid of all cockroaches and eggs won’t be effective.

There are DIY cockroach treatments available, however these have a tendency to be ineffective on large or persistent infestations. The best response is to use an experienced pest control company who will be able to survey the area to locate cockroaches and their eggs and then effectively treat them using insecticide spray and dust. Professional companies will also advise you of the most suitable way to stop the infestation from reoccuring by blocking likely access routes.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is a town in the county of Northumberland. It is the northernmost town in England. It’s located 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) south of the Scottish border, at the mouth of the River Tweed, on the east coast of the United Kingdom. It is 56 miles (90 kilometres) to the south east of Edinburgh, 65 miles (105 kilometres) north of Newcastle upon Tyne and 345 miles (555 km) north of London. The 2011 United Kingdom Census recorded Berwick’s population as roughly 12,043. A civil parish and town council were founded during 2008. Berwick’s origins are as an Anglo-Saxon settlement during the period of the Kingdom of Northumbria, which was annexed by England in the 10th century. The area was, for over four hundred years, central to historical border wars amongst the Kingdoms of England and Scotland, and a number of times possession of Berwick changed hands between the two kingdoms. The last time it changed hands was when England retook it in 1482. Berwick is still a traditional market town and also has some notable architectural features, for example its medieval town walls, Elizabethan ramparts and Britain’s oldest barracks buildings. Slightly more than 60% of the population works in the service sector, including shops, hotels and catering, financial services and most government activity, such as health care. About 13 per cent is in manufacturing, 10% in agriculture, and 8 per cent in building. Some current and recent Berwick economic activities include salmon fishing, shipbuilding, engineering, sawmilling, fertilizer production, malting and the production of tweed and hosiery.
