Rats are common in the UK. They may be a problem inside or outside, although rats are usually only a serious problem if they’re in your home or business. Rats can spread diseases such as Leptospirosis or Weil’s disease, so it is necessary to manage a suspected rat problem as quickly as possible. This is particularly crucial if the rats are suspected to be in your kitchen or another area where you prepare food.

There are a variety of ways to deal with a rat infestation. Traps can be utilised, either triggered traps in particular areas where you know rats will pass, or bait traps which lure rats into them. Poison is also widely used, although it’s advised that poison is only utilised as a last resort outside due to the risk to other animals due to secondary poisoning. Another effective method is to eliminate the rat’s food source and usage of an area. This can be tricky as rats may have several methods of getting access, but by obstructing these they can be prevented from getting into buildings. Taking away their food sources is similarly effective, especially if they are feeding on food that you leave out for domestic pets.

Experienced pest control companies will be able to survey the building and identify the most effective ways of controlling a rat infestation. This will commonly involve several visits over a brief period to set and then remove traps.

Alloa is a town in Clackmannanshire, set within the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It lies on the north bank of the Firth of Forth near the foot of the Ochil Hills, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) east of Stirling and 7.9 miles (12.7 kilometres) north of Falkirk. The name potentially means ‘rock plain’. At the time of the 2001 census, Alloa had a resident population of 18,989. Improvements had been made to the harbour through the 1700s, resulting in Alloa thriving as a river port through which the items made in Glasgow were exported to continental Europe. At that time, and till the 1950s, the main industry to the north and east of the town was coal mining. Wool has also always been plentiful in the region and in the early years of the nineteenth century, John Paton established a little yarn-spinning organisation inside the town, later establishing Kilncraigs Mill. His firm merged with J. & J. Baldwin of Halifax in 1924 to become the world-famous Paton & Baldwins Ltd. Alloa was renowned for its weaving and glassmaking industries through the 19th and into the early 20th century. Alloa has long been linked to the brewing business, with at least nine major breweries producing ales at its height. It was also home to a distillery. Following the closure of the distillery, barrel production continues to flourish in the town. The town has a thriving shopping centre, with nationally recognised supermarket chains on the site of the old distillery, near to the railway station. For all of your property upgrades, make sure that you use trustworthy professionals in Alloa to make sure you receive the best quality work.
